We were fortunate to be able to utilize ‘Star’ as a walking herd bull from 2009 to 2011. A FGAF Seldom son, we liked his muscling and calving ease, with his colour (solid red except for a small ‘star’ on his forehead) being a bonus. His calves have come easy with good performance and eye appeal. Star walked our pastures for 3 years, and through-out that time, he maintained his ‘picture’ condition . We were truly impressed how muscled and easy-fleshing he was, and with his daughters now in production, we are happy with how his offspring are turning out.
Only one son of Starfire has sold at auction – APLX Santana 11Y, who merited his own page in the Applecross @ work section.
Donna and Bill McMurty have been in the Fleckvieh business seemingly forever (they first registered females in 1975), so we are pleased to be able to tap their extensive knowledge and utilize their genetics in Spruceburn Starfire.
